FAQ

What should I pay attention to when applying?

Your application should highlight your previous areas of specialization, relevant practical experience and your motivation for management consulting and joining SET. In the cover letter in particular, you can give your application a personal touch, since, as an up-and-coming, still young company, the personal fit is especially important to us.

What are the requirements for an internship at SET?

Ideally, you are in the final stage of completing your bachelor's or master's degree, preferably with a focus on economics. Practical experience in the form of internships in management consulting, auditing or in the controlling/finance sector in industry is an advantage, but not a must. In addition, creative engagement in the management-oriented preparation of presentations, the ability to structure complex issues in a solution-oriented manner, and an “inventive mentality” are major plus points. Advanced knowledge of MS Office (PowerPoint & Excel) is also an advantage.

How can I prepare for my interview?

In addition to the personal fit, the focus of the interviews is on your professional knowledge, analytical skills and structured approach. It is important to us that you have familiarized yourself with our consulting competencies and values and that you give us an authentic impression of your motivation for management consulting and how you would like to apply to SET. For the technical case studies, knowledge of classic solution strategies, business models and contexts, as well as our consulting areas, are of advantages.

When can I expect feedback on my application?

We aim to make the application process as straightforward, flexible, and quick as possible. Therefore, we make our decision promptly and will get back to you within a week.

How long can I do an internship at SET?

Our goal is to give you a comprehensive insight into our consulting work and entrust you with initial responsibilities.   Therefore, an internship with us is generally possible for a period of 3 months or more. Shorter periods are possible in exceptional cases - let's discuss this during the interview!

Will there be a case to work on during the interview process?

Yes. During our one-hour virtual interview, we want to get to know you as a person but also would like to see see how you perform in a professional setting. We also want to learn more about your analytical skills and structured approach. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate these in a 20-minute case study.

Does SET offer topics for theses (Bachelor’s or Master’s)?

Yes, we are happy to supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses that are related to our main areas of expertise.

Does SET offer student trainee positions?

Yes.  However, the prerequisite for a student trainee position at SET is successful completion of an internship.

How will my personal data be handled during the application process?

Your data will be handled confidentially and in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). Personal information, including all transmitted application data, will be used exclusively for recruitment purposes.

What opportunities are there for interns who go the extra mile?

If you impress us with your high performance standards and cultural fit during your internship, we will offer opportunities such as a subsequent working student position or a streamlined process for a permanent employment.

What does the onboarding process look like at SET?

You will be part of the crew from day one and will receive clear guidance from your mentor and your project team from the very beginning. Through a structured onboarding process at our office, you will receive all necessary information about our internal processes as well as opportunities for further development and involvement at SET. We will also discuss all the details of your project assignment, including project history, scope, and your responsibilities. In the first weeks and months, your focus will be on settling in at SET and getting to know our topics and your project better. However, our goal is to quickly give you the responsibility for your own tasks so that you can unlock your full potential and benefit from a steep learning curve.

What is the ratio between working from home and working in the office or at client sites?

We pursue a flexible smart-working approach, combining home-office, on-site client workshops, and collaborative work at our SET office. Personal contact with clients and colleagues is very important to us. Therefore we encourage the entire team meets at our "Team Times" in our Frankfurt office every 3 weeks!

Where is your office located? Is there a preferred area to live?

Our office is located right in the heart of Frankfurt and is where we regularly come together to work on projects and internal topics – at least every three weeks with the entire crew as part of our Team Times! You have the absolute flexibility in choosing where to live and how often you come to the office.
